Its something no woman wants to have let alone admit that we have. But we have all been there, feeling fine and about to step out in your sunday bests or taken a gorge selfie thats on point, and just as your about to about to hit “share” on Facebook, you noticed a thick halo of what looked like baby chick hair around your jaw and lip….
Shock horror, am I growing a beard? You have "THE FUZZ" Before you go thinking you have to join the circus as the bearded lady let me tell you that yes it is common… very common, and yes I can help you. Like it or not, extra facial hair is most common when you have peri-menopausal hormones circulating, it is also not uncommon if you have an ethnic background or a hormone imbalance. The quickest and easiest method of attack on this invasion of your feminine feature is waxing it. Quick and simple. For 90% of people it's simple anyway. But whats that I hear you say? you are the 10% and have already tried waxing and have had breakouts? Well I'm here to help. Breakouts can occur after waxing because of bacteria, inflammation and irritation, but you can take steps to prevent the problem both before and after your waxing treatment. At the little beauty bar I have developed a system that includes thorough cleansing and prepping of the skin alongside using a kaolin mask to draw out any impurities and calm the skin. DO'S -Exfoliate your skin with an exfoliating scrub before you have the waxing done. -Get waxed by a professional and make sure they use clean utensils. - Make sure everything that touches your skin after is clean…EVERYTHING! this includes your pillow case, your makeup brush, your hands etc. -Apply an astringent to the area immediately after waxing. Witch hazel or tea tree is good. -Use a hydrocortisone cream as soon as you see/ If you see bumps forming DONT'S -Touch the area with your fingers. They are dirty.. Stop it. -Put makeup or other products (apart from the ones I have listed) on the skin for 24hrs after waxing. - Sweat on the area by going to the gym or swimming for 24hrs. (If your going to ignore this make sure to clean the area and put an astringent on straight after) -And this is the biggest DONT. Thou shalt not wax the face if you use a retinol, whether it’s prescription or over the counter! You are basically asking me to rip off some skin along with that peach fuzz if you fail to admit to using it on your consultation. If waxing is not possible there is also the option of threading to remove the hair, all of the do's and don't's still apply with threading, it is just a gentler way of removing hairs without the exfoliation of the skin that you get from the waxing.
